From confusion to rage, from losses to the first victories and deoccupation of part of our territory.
These are the most terrible months in the life of Ukraine. And from the first hours of February 24, Boris Bukhman became our eyes at train stations, in volunteer centers, in military vehicles, in cities under enemy fire, and in reoccupied villages. He could be seen even before at border posts, military units, and trainings, as the war for him started in 2014. However, now he has become a real frontline photographer. Hugs, despair, tears, hope, blood, pain, fatigue, joy, rage, pride, courage, love, friendship, help… And there are also many sunflowers and sun in the master’s photos, even if the whole sky is covered with clouds because there is always the inner light above that is not governed by the laws of physics.
This exposition presents only a small part of the works, selected from thousands of frames. Some of them became famous and recognizable, and a few appeared on the covers of European magazines, but all of them became artifacts of a terrible and brutal war.

Boris Bukhman (born in 1961), Ukraine, Odesa.
Photographer, member of the National Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine.
He picked up a camera for the first time at the age of 7. He became a professional photographer at the age of 25. Head of “Photographer and I” (Ukrainian: «ФотограФ і Я») workshop of practical photography.
As a photojournalist, Boris Bukhman worked on many famous projects, including international ones, and cooperated with persons from the science, art, politics, and sports spheres. Throughout time, he collaborated with many Odesa publishing editions.
As a theatre photographer, Boris Bukhman works with the Odesa Academic Theatre of Musical Comedy named after M. Vodyanoy. He worked with the Odesa Academic Ukrainian Musical Drama Theatre named after V. Vasylko, Odesa Young Spectator Theatre named after Y. Olesha, Odesa Puppet Theatre, the “Masks” Theatre and many others.
Takes part in many charity projects to help the Children’s City Clinical Hospital, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, and the League of Jewish Volunteers.
Winner and participant in many national and international photo contests.
Boris Bukhman participates as a photographer and an organizer in many joint photo projects and photo exhibitions. Member of the jury of several Ukrainian and international contests
